Tourist: This is who I am

Tourist: This is who I am
I am essentially a tourist in my children's world. I create elaborate itineraries for my children, take them out to every site and event... And then I watch.

Chapter One 6/07 Tourist Layout by Neith

Supplies
Scrapbook Takeout Wonderful Whimsy 6/07: Stamps; Club Scrap Chapter One 6/07: CSt Grey Print, Blue Plain, and UM Borders & Backgrounds Stamp; Club Scrap Wheel & Sprocket 8/06 Black and Red Plain; American Crafts: Silver Metallic Marker; Sakura: Gelly Roll Pen in Black; Kuretake: Zig Memory Writer in Pure Black; Ranger: Adirondack Paint Dabber in Aqua, Black Soot Distress Ink Pad, Matte Accents; Tsukineko: Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad; Staples: Write On Transparency;

I loved this series of photos that I did of just my children's shadows on a playground near home... I did get a few with me in them as well!

Not only did I paint the back of my transparency and one stamped image, but I also inked the edges of my matting strips with the paint.

It's Revolutionary!

Getting ready for the 4th of July here and thought that I would make a layout to commemorate it!

Revolutionary - Chapter One 6/07 Layout by Neith

Revolutionary
July 4th 2005
Every year we attend the Horribles Parade in Beverly Farms. Most of the floats are very campy commentaries on Politics of Today. But we still love the traditional American Revolutionists

Supplies Used -
Club Scrap 6/07 Chapter One: Plain Blue, Plain Grey, Plain Kraft, Red Sr 12x12 Print, CSDigital Sticker (for title), ALSB Layout #7 (modified); Ranger Archival Ink in Crimson (on title block); Offray Ribbons. Ten Seconds Studio Kit #1 (to etch border on photos);

I used the flag motif ribbons to create the swags at the top and offwhite twill to divide the background.

Hawaiian Luau Invitations (4 Technique Junkies Techniques!)

I've been busy getting ready for the end of the school year and for my children's birthday parties! Here are the invites that we just made for the girls' Hawaiian Luau Party (thank you so much to Vernell for helping me finish them up today!)

Hawaiian Luau Invitations

These cards use a wonderfully dynamic structure based on Flap Fold Card from the Technique Junkies June/July 2007 Newsletter! The structure helped me by using small papers (didn't want to tear through all my nice 8.5x11 or 8.5x5.5 pieces for mass inviting!) including one 5x7, one 4x6, 1/3 of a 4x6, and 1/2 of a 3x5 POP from Club Scrap per card with a few spare scraps to make ATCs with!

Hawaiian Luau Invitations

For the ocean wave-like pattern, I used the Cling and Scrunch technique from the Technique Junkies June/July 2007 Newsletter, using the Color Washes and Club Scrap's glossy Asian Artisan 1/04 Blue Frost paper. For the Hibiscus square, I used the AquaPainted Rubber AND the Watercolor Crayon Painting techniques from Technique Junkies' Free Watercolor Crayon Tutorial samples along with the gorgeous Surf's Up! 7/06 CSt Hibiscus Collage WM Stamp. This stamp creates the blue, fabric-like, background and leaves the flowers as a negative image, perfect for painting in with other colors!

I would highly recommend joining Technique Junkies if you enjoy inking techniques! Every other month you receive a wonderful full color newsletter filled with different stamping and inking techniques. Online, as a subscriber, you can also access more step by step images and descriptions, a wealth of additional sample images, bonus online techniques, and accress to their yahoo group filled with plenty of tips, samples, challenges, and more! All for only $3 per issue with unlimited online access to those issues' web pages (you can only access the pages for the months where you've subscribed)!

Don't Forget To Dream Card

Here's a "simple" little tri-fold card that incorporates solid papers, rub-ons and embellishments! The one tool that really helped facillitate this card was the Tonic 12" Small Base Guillotine Trimmer (larger ones would work as well, and even the mini!). Because of its precision in making even the tiniest of cuts, I was able to slice the long, thin, border rub-on in half and create thin strips of Apricot cardstock for the card!

The chipboard created a wonderful opportunity for both dimension, and an interesting edge for one of the card folds! Also, notice how cute the rub-on flowers look on the snaps? If you have a bin full of large snaps and brads, why not dress them up a bit with tiny rub-ons or stamps?

And, of course, the Wings Kit is on sale all month long! Isn't the Apricot paper just wonderful??

Varsity Double Layout & Transparency Technique!

I've mostly used my Club Scrap Varsity 6/05 Kits for their paper colors, love that dusty color palette and the soft fabric-like texture. But I was recently inspired to get out some of those sporty prints and get scrapping! (You know I never scrap in order, just when the mood hits!)

Here's a double layout from the last Pawsox (Minor League) Game that we attended! One side is about the mascots, the other with a shot from the game.

Have you ever wanted a great transparency overlay, but what you were looking for just didn't exist? One of the wonderful things that Club Scrap does is give you full permission to scan and reprint their idea cards! So you can take the images from their unmounted stamps, scan them in at any resolution and print them at the size you wish! You can get special transparency film for your printer, or do what I did! I enlarged the baseball frame from the Borders & Backgrounds Idea Card and printed it on some paper from my recycling bin, then traced it onto my transparency with a Slick Writer and painted on the backside. I found that this image worked best when I painted outside of the lines!

I used the same paint to make the metal alphabet match as well as my journalling box! To get an aged look on the journalling box, I applied the paint to the cardstock and then quickly blotted some off with balled up plastic wrap (from opening a package of scrap supplies!) to give it some texture and show small hints of the paper from below it!

Another thing that I did was to stamp directly onto craft felt with StayzOn and cut it out for my pennant title. Also, I used foam squares to raise the sports jersey print and the baseball snap.

Two New Layouts With the June 2007 Kit!

Here are two brand new layouts that I made with Club Scrap's June 2007 Chapter One Kit!

The Best of Times Layout - CS Chapter One 6/07

Neither the Chipboard Alpha nor the Stickers matched my layout precisely... so I inked them! The stickers were inked with Latte Adirondacks and Antique Linen Distress Inks while the "T" was inked with Pesto Adirondack Ink. I also turned my old class photo to black and white, then added blue back into the background with the Weathered Wood Distress Ink and Cut 'n' Dry Foam. And finally... the clock hands tell you the year!

Club Scrap: Chapter One 6/07 Kraft Print, Kraft Paper, & Grey Frame; Interior Designs 11/06 Blue Translucent Paper; Egyptian 8/03 Red Debossed Print; Food For Craft Host Reward Embellishments Clock Hands & Watch Face;

Hello Gorgeous Layout - CS Chapter One 6/07

To make the clear ghost letters show up, I painted the back of each with acrylic paint, allowed it to dry, and then used Ranger's Matte Accents to glue them onto my page!
